As you might know by now I have been at DISCOP in Budapest last week. The market was interesting, but not easy. The general economic crisis is apparent at TV markets: less attendees and buyers being less enthusiastic due to budget cuts and currency decline.
I love travelling, but travelling for work is a different story. Spending your evenings alone and eating by yourself is sometimes a little boring. But now that I have Telcast’s travel mascot DORI the fish with me, things are different. And she wants constantly to have her picture taken.

The Discop magazine had interviews with all East European acquisition people. I flicked through the magazine and EVERY article started with the word CRISIS… I will count later how many times the word is used over how many pages.
Still… Business is possible. Maybe not straight away but it is important to establish relationships and when economy picks up, we will be there and make good business!

The market which I have attended for the first time took place in a hotel by the famous chain bridge in Budapest. I feel watched by our earthTV camera. I looked at every building and roof but I could not see the camera. Where is it? Which roof did you climb, Ralf?
Budapest’s metro is one of Europe’s oldest. Its style of tiled wall’s and wooden fittings and it’s old metal poles are repeated in every station. It is so cute, cosy, small and looks like a doll house metro. The carriges rattle along, you can’t hear a word. But modern times have arrived here too in form of ticket machines. Typically you pay with a note, but the machine is very sensitive and just doesn’t swallow it. After 3 days of using the metro I have mastered it! What an achievment!
