While I was just searching the latest videos from Udaipur for the elephant that my colleague Marco reported to have seen standing in Lake Picchola, I noticed that the monsoon finally kicked in in Rajasthan!
All looks pretty wet now, especially compared to the aridness of the last weeks where a ‘lake’ was nowhere to be seen. I guess eveybody in Udaipur is happy about the rains!
On the contrary in Munich I guess nobody is happy about the rain we are expecting along with a severe thunderstorm which is supposed to start any minute from now. Keep my fingers crossed that it won’t get to bad!

And did you find the elephant? The only animals I’ve ever seen in front of the Udaipur camera are cows, lots of cows ;-)
Yes, I found it! It was looking a bit bored and lonely standing in the then still very dry lake bed…
…yes, lots of cows…
*tries to find elephant*
@stefanie, when did you find it?
@Conor: I think I found an elephant! Have a look at this video, the elephant is in the left corner.
wow, that’s another elephant – the one I saw end of last week was in a closer shot of the ghat. or it is the same elephant visiting his favourite place daily? we need to have a closer look at that…
@Stefanie: If the elephant is visiting daily, that’s a good story for a new blog post ;-)
We will keep an eye on it! Maybe he usually comes for a swim when there is water in the lake – a refreshing bath at the end of the day or so… or this is just my imagination as we are finally expecting summer temperatures here in Munich ;-)
when the rain begins to fall…. oh jeah the jacksons… and pia…
@tanja,
yes, you found it!
wow, how interesting!
Id love it if an elephant occaisionally walked past my house. Liven up boring afternoons…(though we would argue over who gets the peanuts, and I have a feeling the elephant would win)
@stefanie, I would love to see an elephant doing the doggy paddle or breast stroke :) :)
