4 weeks ago, the annual summer BBQ was scheduled for LAST THURSDAY. Till around lunchtime it was not clear if the weather will be stable but it was decided to go ahead anyway.
Patrizia and Apu kindly did the shopping: beer and wine was put in the fridge and at 4 pm it started raining… Hurray we thought, the skies will clear soon and we will have a great party!
Around 6 pm the BBQ was lit BUT there was no grill rack. Swiftly Marcus went off to get his “Barbie” (as the Australians call it) from home. Piles of meet, sausages, courgettes, eggplants and potato salad where waiting for their destiny… ending up in the tummies of about 30 hungry party people.
As soon as the coal got hot it started raining again, followed by a proper hailstorm. We already had a first round of drinks and where amused rather than upset. The temperature dropped from over 30 degrees Celsius in the day to maybe 18 in the evening. Sounds like the party was cooling off? No! Have a look at the attached pictures! Just a shame that the pool party was rained off (yes we have an outdoor pool on the compound).

Summer Splash was great, but it would have been even better without the rain! ;-)
Well, I really can’t be that disappointed of the weather. After all, the steaks and the sausages were yummy enough to compensate for a thunderstorm and a hurricane. Thanks to Apu, Steven and Marcus (and to everyone else engaged in the process) for the masterful grilling! :))
I must say, I am particularly happy with the summer splash – I tried out “Obazda”, a very very delicious mix of cheese, butter, red peppers, and onions. So I have almost nothing to complain about, except for the weather :D
How come you have a pool on your complex? That sounds very luxurious, work making cool TV programmes, then go for a little swim… That’s my sort of job ;-)
at least you will remember the Summer Splash :-), as hail in summer is quite an accomplishment!
Hi, my BBQ is now documented in the web……
Eek! What will happen to your privacy…
