I am not a football fan at all.
Actually for the first time I really watched football was during the World Cup in Germany in 2006. In a very opportunistic way I have to confess, since I cheered for different teams, depending on the location where I was watching the game.
I specifically remember one Brazilian game I watched in my neighbourhood in Munich with a Brazilian community, 90% of the viewers being Brazilians, 10% of them beating huge drums – it was a fantastic experience
Next Sunday, 21st June, Brazil will play versus Italy in the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, one of the few group matches of the Confed Cup that are practically sold out so far.
Given the many Italians in my neighbourhood this time it will be really hard to decide whom to cheer for! At least Germany is not qualified for Confed Cup – so no need to worry about that… ;-)

If I watch football matches without German involvement, I also cheer for different teams. A football match without a team to cheer for is boring!
I hope that all games are sold out during the FIFA Worldcup next year and that this comeptition will push South Africa.
I just cheer when others cheer if i don’t know who is playing – seems to work, most of the time…
@Conor: good strategy – so you end up cheering for both teams? ;-)
That’s really a good strategy. In the end your team always wins ;-)
yes, it works most of the time,
the trouble is when there are two teams in the same room, and it gets confusing sometimes… :-)
