Thomas HohenackerWelcome aboard earthTV

I am excited that we now have an earthTV blog. When we founded earthTV we wanted to show the peoples of the world to their fellows from all around the globe. Show the similarities between the people of the planet and show that we have far more that unites than divides us. With 80 locations worldwide we are on the way to achieving that. We all seek to contribute to building greater understanding and communication between individuals and communities. This blog is a chance to start a world dialogue – ideas and thoughts that circumnavigate the globe in an instant.

You will find throughout this blog stories, thoughts and comments from the earthTV team and our fellow earthTV users. Each one of us has real stories and anecdotes to tell – either about our own daily life or about how people around the globe interact. Communicating with people with different cultural backgrounds can be both amusing and stimulating. It helps us look inside ourselves and examine the focus of our lives. Looking through an earthTV camera whether we are constructing one, installing one or simply watching an earthTV channel extends our horizons.

On a more prosaic level we at earthTV also want you – our worldwide friends and users – to tell us what you get from our service – how we can improve it, or develop your favourite features even more. You can comment on the stories you read here like our astonishment about how often we heard the earthgrooves as a ringtone when walking through Hong Kong. Tell us what you think of our music. Please send us your comments on our trips to some of the nicest spots on earth. We are open to ideas for camera locations too – we can’t promise we will be able to put a camera wherever you suggest but if enough of you do suggest a place it will help to make it happen.

Let’s talk to each other, let’s explain our hopes, fears and aspirations about the big – and little – issues we all face in our global village.

Thanks for being here – Thomas Hohenacker

well, I think earthTV is brilliant – when times were tough for me, it was a nice escape to see there was a better world out there, with so many interesting and different lives. The idea of a blog is a really nice one, makes the website more of a community :)

I LOVE earthgrooves – its my favourite CD, and I play it often on my computer. I played one CD so much, I had to buy another thanks to scratches aquired from repetitive playing… I remember when I first heard North Gate on TV – I had to find that tune! Who, by the way composed it?
wow, this is turning into an essay…. sorry

If you want a fantastic location, try Bristol, in the south-west of England – there is a wonderful big bridge where you can see the whole city and the scenery is simply beautiful…

So yeh, I think earthTV is wonderful as an idea and in reality, when it was shown on Sky Travel until a few years back it was a must see, and I love the music as well…

    Best,
    Conor
